I have a myriad of projects, ranging from fashion to fin tech, mobile to desktop. If you don’t see something here, feel free to ask!

Last Minute - Startup

I started at Spafinder specifically to work on a stealth startup called 'Last Minute,' which allowed spas and other service businesses to post their unscheduled appointment times at a considerable discount. Had a "last minute" cancellation? Post it the app and get it booked!

The problem

Last Minute launched an MVP before my arrival, but the site was almost inoperable. LM launched right when mobile usage was exploding, but their desktop-based website MVP needed to get the traction they wanted, and they were spending a lot of time on customer support for the tiny number of appointments coming in.

The Design

As a small team that needed to move efficiently, we focused on the viewports that mattered the most—desktop and mobile. To ensure these two viewports did as much heavy lifting as possible, we designed for the small end of each: 320px for mobile and 1080px for desktop. This setup would cover almost all mobile devices, and the desktop would also cover tablet devices.

The goal was exposure - expose the process early to users, expose the most relevant appointments, and never let users wonder what's required of them. We kept overall interactions to a minimum, only deploying tabs and accordions where absolutely needed.

We reinforced to the user what they were purchasing and how to use it at each step, including a detailed confirmation page that gave them everything they needed to attend their appointment.

The confirmation page builds confidence by relaying back to the user everything that was selected or entered during the process of booking.

The Result

Last Minute was a smash hit with users and salons alike, even winning an innovation award from Allure Magazine.
